College Hill's Historic and Beautiful Area

Just 12 minutes south of Downtown Eugene, College Hill is a captivating area with rolling hills, small streets, and sidewalks along both sides of the road.

Stop and take in the scenic beauty of the neighborhood landscape and historic houses in College Hill — be sure to take a self-guided tour.

Why "College Hill"?

Contrary to popular belief, College Hill was not named for the University of Oregon, but for Columbia College.

Though it was only open for a few years, the college remains significant to the Eugene area in not only College Hill's name, but in the history of the area. Today, a small stone marker — placed there in 1906 — at the corner of Olive Street and 19th Avenue commemorates the former site of the college.

Daily Conveniences

College Hill's restaurants are primarily located on 29th Street and Willamette Street, though Friendly Street also offers a couple of cafes and specialty stores.

Residents can find international food, meats, organic ingredients, and groceries at the Woodfield Station shopping center.

Education for All Ages in College Hill

College Hill residents are served by the Eugene School district, which offers public schools near the residential area for K-12 students.

Just 7 minutes away is the University of Oregon, a public university that provides top-notch undergraduate programs, graduate programs, and distance education for its students.
